Dewamor Emunah in St. Petersburg

A small line with a specific job. Three products: benzoyl peroxide at two strengths, and a Soothing Mask to use alongside them.

Benzoyl peroxide is one of the oldest and best-understood ingredients for breakouts, and it is available here at professional strength rather than the version sold in supermarkets.

5% or 10%?

Both cost the same, which makes this the question people ask most — and the answer surprises them. Start at 5%.

Stronger is not better with benzoyl peroxide. Going straight to 10% mostly buys you dryness, flaking and irritation, and skin that is irritated tends to break out more rather than less. Most people do better on 5% used consistently than on 10% used twice and abandoned.

The 10% is there for skin that has already got on well with 5% and genuinely needs more. Ask Desiree rather than guessing.

Two things worth knowing

Benzoyl peroxide bleaches fabric. It will take the colour out of towels, pillowcases and collars, and it does it quietly over weeks. Use white towels and a white pillowcase, or accept the losses.

Start slowly. Every other night for the first fortnight, then build up if your skin is comfortable. The Soothing Mask exists for the nights it is not.
