Chin wax
Chin wax
Chin waxing in downtown St. Petersburg
A quick, precise chin wax using soft wax, which is gentler on the thinner skin along the chin and jaw. Twelve dollars, and you're in and out in under fifteen minutes.
Desiree has been a licensed esthetician since 1995. This isn't a rushed strip-mall wax — it's done by someone who treats skin for a living.
Who it's for
Anyone dealing with coarse or fine hair along the chin and jawline. It's one of the most commonly requested waxes, and one of the most commonly done badly. Chin skin is thin and pulls easily, which is where most irritation and ingrown hairs come from.
If a chin wax has left you red for two days before, that was usually technique or wax temperature — not your skin.
What to expect
The whole appointment takes under fifteen minutes. Desiree cleanses the area, applies soft wax in the direction the hair grows, removes it against the grain, and finishes with something soothing. You'll be a little pink for an hour or so. That settles quickly.
Before you come in
Let the hair grow to roughly a quarter of an inch — about two weeks. Hair that's too short won't lift properly, and you'll be back sooner than you'd like.
Tell Desiree when you book if you use a retinoid, Accutane, or any prescription acne treatment. These thin the skin, and waxing over them can lift it. She'll let you know whether to reschedule.
Aftercare
For the first 24 hours, skip makeup over the area and avoid heat — no sauna, hot yoga, or direct sun. For 48 hours, keep exfoliants and acids off the chin. And keep your hands off it; freshly waxed skin picks up bacteria easily.
Questions people ask
How long does it last?
Typically three to four weeks, depending on how quickly your hair grows.
Does it hurt?
Briefly. The chin is a small area, so it's over in seconds. Most people find it far easier than they expected.
Will the hair grow back thicker?
No. That's a myth about shaving, not waxing. Waxing takes hair from the root, and regrowth tends to come back finer over time.
Can I still get it done if I'm breaking out?
Tell Desiree first. Waxing over active breakouts can irritate them, and if you're on a prescription treatment it may not be suitable at all.
I want more than just the chin done.
Most people do. The combinations below cost less than booking each one separately.
